Fall has officially arrived, and many of us have already begun putting away our summer clothes and hunting for new autumn outfits. Every year, women’s fashion magazines usher in the fall season with new styles and designer fashions in their benchmark September issues. Women’s fashion magazines had a strong September, with 737 different advertisers running ads across the seven largest titles.
These September issues are perennially filled with original and striking ad creative, as many advertisers regularly elect to use special (and often expensive) ad features to highlight their brands and products. This September, advertisers increased their use of several high impact ad features in women’s fashion magazines.
Heavy-stock ad pages, the most popular special feature in magazines, increased by 20% to 547 total pages in the seven women’s fashion titles. Scented fragrance ads, which have made a resurgence in 2014, increased by 18% to 46 total pages. Gatefold ad pages increased by 22.2% to 132 total pages.
